tl;dr

The main goal of Zefir's Engineering team is to build top-notch products and services for our internal and external customers.

Internal customers are our co-workers, who use the tools we develop for running the business and making the decisions that move it forward - they are pricing analysts, operation managers, company management, salespeople, and even our fellow engineers. External customers are users of our end products: home sellers, home buyers, real estate agents, external operational agents, and so on.

Our mental model turns around the fact that the speed of innovation is the main MOAT for a tech company, and we should do everything in our power to provide an environment where we can scale our products and team, learn and fail fast - if necessary, and double down on the most impactful problems.

We firmly believe that the only sensible way to create a team and culture for fast innovation and product development is to:

• give engineers total freedom and ownership over what they produce and the decisions they make - as Netflix says: “People over process”.
• remove bottlenecks and friction, giving Engineers quality time to think and come up with solutions to our hardest problems: almost no meetings, asynchronous communication, ship iteratively and confidently, and automate everything we can if it brings enough value.
• provide context, information, and ease of communication so Engineers can work on the right problems, not spending their time simply writing technical code detached from the business (even though writing code is as fun as one can get 🤓).
